For over twenty years we have been manufacturing windows, doors and furnishings for Architects and Builders in the Texas Hill Country. With each project, we have developed new ways to incorporate old world ideas of joinery and construction methods into modern Architecture.
Since January 2001, our focus shifted to building custom pivoting doors. As each project developed, we refined the technical aspects of how a pivoting door should function; especially the way the door feels when it is opened or closed and how it seals and locks. The design has evolved to the point that we no longer use door sweeps to seal the threshold or the header.
On the third generation we began to develop a compression seal that allows the door to bump against the jamb throughout its perimeter. This type of seal allows for a near perfect interface without the drag caused by sweeps used on conventional doors.
"Functional Art" is the best way to describe our latest incarnations. The following pages contain photos and the stories behind the manufacturing of our doors. Will your design be next?
